Notes

  1. The stamp duty threshold for first time buyers of £250,000 applies where completion takes place on or after 25 March 2010 and before 25 March 2012.
  2. From 6 April 2011, the rate applying where consideration is more than £1,000,000 is 5%. Previously the 4% rate for properties over £500,000 applied.

SDLT on rent

Where a high rent is charged for a new lease, SDLT is payable on both the lease premium (at the above rates) and the net present value of the rent payable. The total of these two amounts represents the total SDLT payable.
