HMRC have published an impact assessment of online corporation tax joint filing with Companies House. The impact assessment is available on the HMRC website.
Since October 2010 it has been possible to file online accounts prepared under the Companies Act 2006 jointly to both HMRC and Companies House. Use of the service is voluntary. However, from 1 April 2011 it is mandatory to file company tax returns online.
