HMRC reduce forms sent to agents

08 September 2010

To reduce costs, HMRC are reducing the number of copy forms that they send to tax advisers and agents. The list of forms culled includes the P2 Notice of Coding and the Tax Calculation form P800. HMRC estimates that it can save £1.25 million just by not sending out these forms to agents.

Agents and tax advisers who file clients returns online will be able to see many of the forms online. However, where the online services are not used, the agent will need to rely on the client to provide him or her with a copy of any forms received from HMRC> In many cases this may be less than satisfactory.

Further details of the cuts, including a full list of the forms that HMRC are no longer issuing to agents, can be found on the HMRC website.
