National living wage

The National Living Wage is payable from 1 April 2016 to workers age 25 and over. Workers under 25 must continue to be paid the National Minimum Wage.

From 1 April 2016 £7.20 per hour

National MINIMUM WAGE

Main rate -- workers aged 21 years or more £6.70 per hour
Workers aged 18 to 20 £5.30 per hour
Workers aged under 18 (but above compulsory school age) £3.87 per hour
Apprentices aged under 19 £3.30 per hour
Apprentices aged over 19 but in their first year of apprenticeship

£2.30 per hour

£6.19 per hour

Workers aged 18 to 20

£4.98 per hour

Workers aged under 18 but above compulsory school age

£3.68 per hour

Apprentice rate aged under 19 £2.65 per hour

Apprentice rate aged under 19 £2.60 per hour
Apprentice rate aged 19 and over and in first year of apprenticeship (apprentices aged 19 and over who have completed the first year of their apprenticeship are entitled to the full NMW for their age). £2.60 per hour
